Shea Butter Baby

Have you ever heard of Shea Butter? Well you should because it has many benefits and have been used for awhile now. It is made from the nut of a African Shea tree. In its raw form it is yellow until it becomes processed and turns white. It has many benefits, which I will be talking about so lets jump into it!

According to Healthline, Shea butter has 22 benefits. One of the benefits is that it is anti-inflammatory. On the site it says,”When applied to the skin, Shea triggers cytokines and other inflammatory cells to slow their production. This may help minimize irritation caused by environmental factors, such as dry weather, as well as inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema.” This would be very helpful in places such as Arizona which has dry weather.

Another use for Shea butter is that it is a great moisturizer. Using this can help your skin absorb and hold moisture. An additional benefit is that not oily and that it can be used for all skin types. Personally, Shea butter has helped my skin drastically. During my freshman year, I never used lotions because they would not hold in my skin. After doing a lot of research, Shea butter is what really worked for my skin.

There is many more uses and benefits of Shea butter. If you would like to know more about this, you can check out this site for more information. https://www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/what-is-shea-butter#moisture

New App

What would it be about?

The app would be about informing others about good hygiene practices and good ways to maintain a healthy look. It would allow the customer to see and choose what would be best for their skin and affordable ways to purchase what they need as well as links to where to be. I think with the pandemic that is occurring right now, that this app would be great to have. Being able to have hygiene tips to follow during times like these would be very helpful and would help those uneducated with what to do.

All About Hygiene

With the pandemic going on right now, good hygiene practices are a must right now. Things such as washing your hands, and not touching your face, can benefit you in the long run. Though we should be following these practices already, I’ll be going in depth on why we should.

We should always wash your hands because it removes germs which prevent many infections. According to Better Health Channel, “A number of infectious diseases can be spread from one person to another by contaminated hands. These diseases include gastrointestinal infections, such as Salmonella, and respiratory infections, such as influenza. Washing your hands properly can help prevent the spread of the germs (like bacteria and viruses) that cause these diseases.” If you do not wash your hands frequently, you are making yourself more vulnerable to infections. Better Health Channel also says,”Some forms of gastrointestinal and respiratory infections can cause serious complications, especially for young children, the elderly, or those with a weakened immune system. ” So remember to wash your hands during this pandemic to prevent the spread of germs.

Another thing we have to practice is not touching our face. Our hands carry a lot of germs, and touching our face spreads germs which makes it easier for germs to spread. We shouldn’t be touching our face because it can increase the chance of being infected. STAT says, ” The corona virus that causes Covid-19 is believed to be spread mostly by inhaling droplets released when an infected individual coughs or sneezes. But these droplets can also land on surfaces that we touch with our hands.” So if we were to say touch a contaminated doorknob then touch our face then we would most likely catch Covid-19.

To end this brief post, I would like to say practice good hygiene and stay safe during these tough times. When I was in middle school, I struggled with acne. After many failed attempts and home remedies, I finally found the the right thing, Noxzema. The first two weeks I saw a massive difference in my face. Who knew that this four dollar product would be my remedy for bad skin? According The Cleansing Cream You Might Be Overlooking : Noxzema, “The dermatologist tested Noxzema Classic Clean Moisturizing Cleansing Cream contains moisturizing glycerin, eucalyptus, soybean and linseed oils.” Honestly I’m glad that I found this product and I would highly recommend to everyone else.

Another great store find would have to be Indian Healing Clay. You can use this either on your face or hair. You can either use apple cider vinegar or water to make the paste before you apply it to your face and/or hair. This product cost me seven dollars at HEB, and I must say that it was worth it. After every use, My skin looked and felt better. The secret ingredient in this clay is bentonite. According to 11 Benefits of bentonite clay: How to use it and side effects, “Bentonite clay’s adsorbent power may be helpful in treating acne breakouts and oily skin. The clay can help remove sebum, or oil, from the skin’s surface, and it may also have a calming effect on inflamed breakouts.Using a clay face mask can help remove impurities from the skin to treat acne or reduce the risk of pimples and skin infections.”

Dieting

As we all know, dieting is important and helps with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.Did you know that eating certain foods can cause acne? Do you know which foods cause acne? Do you know which foods help get good skin? I do and I will be explaining how this is possible! First let’s start with which foods can cause it.

Lets start out with refined grains and sugars such as bread, crackers, cane sugar, etc.According to Top 7 Foods That Can Cause Acne, “Refined carbohydrates are absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, which rapidly raises blood sugar levels. When blood sugars rise, insulin levels also rise to help shuttle the blood sugars out of the bloodstream and into your cells. However, high levels of insulin are not good for those with acne.” I feel as if we should learn to eat in moderation. we should be able to eat what we want ,but know how much to eat to maintain a healthy diet. Though we all love our carbs, we should eat them in moderation for our overall health.

On the bright side, eating more fruits and vegetables can help the overall appearance of your skin. I have recently had a conversation with some friends about how vegetables and fruits hold a certain amount of water in them. I think that this could help with overall health by improving your hydration, gut health, and so much more. Why is it important to eat vegetable? says, “Eating vegetables provides health benefits – people who eat more vegetables and fruits as part of an overall healthy diet are likely to have a reduced risk of some chronic diseases. Vegetables provide nutrients vital for health and maintenance of your body.” I feel as if we should at least include on vegetable in our everyday meals.

Go eat your vegetables and practice social distancing!

Honey

Honey has been used in many ways for along time. It has been used for cosmetics for a while now. It has been used to lighten skin. fade scars. and clear acne. Let’s me tell you how.

According to How Applying Honey To Your Face Can Help Your Skin, “Honey speeds up your skin cells’ healing processes. If you have blemishes or an eczema outbreak, honey that’s unpasteurized could speed healing and reduce inflammation. Manuka honey is so effective at healing wounds quickly that it’s now used by doctors in clinical settings.” I’ve used honey on my face before, and I really loved the results. My skin looked and felt better, it was an amazing experience.

If you are gonna use honey on your face make sure it is raw honey. The most important thing is to make sure that you are not allergic to the honey as the end result would be bad. If you’d like to know more here’s the link.https://www.healthline.com/health/honey-for-face#outlook

For The Love Of Face Masks

Every now and then we all use some sort of face mask. Rather it’s a peel off mask or mud mask, we all enjoy the feeling afterwards. I’m here today to talk about the benefits of peel-off masks and clay masks. Hopefully by the end of this you’ll be ready to go apply a mask afterwards.

Peel-off

Most people use peel-off mask for the feeling, while other may do it for their blackheads. According to 7 Amazing Benefits of Peel Face Masks,”Peel off masks absorb excess oil from your skin while they unclog and purify your pores, giving you a natural matte and clarified complexion. Don’t be mistaken, this is nothing like your aggressive oil control creams and face washes that leave your skin feeling like cardboard. Peel off masks absorb excess oil without dehydrating your skin.” I personally enjoy using peel-off masks simply because peeling them off my face is very satisfying.

Clay

In my Opinion, Clay mask are very fun. I enjoy them because the feeling they have on my face after it has been applied. Though it’s fun, it has many benefits. It says in The Best Type Of face Mask For every Skin type,”They help balance out the oils in your skin by regulating excess sebum and tightening pores. They also help smooth and soften the surface of your skin, which make them ideal for oily, congested skin. “Acneic skin is tricky as it overreacts to many things, so avoid oil-stripping ingredients as well as pore-clogging balms,” says Engelman. “Look for a mask containing clay for clarifying and lactic or citric acid.” Using this knowledge I will be able to have a clear face.

Skin!

How many of you guys know your skin type? Knowing your skin type could overall help you know to how to treat your skin. Most of us today will see someone with good skin and ask their skin routine. Just because something works for someone else doesn’t mean it will work for you. That is why I’m here to inform you on what you should do based on your skin care.

Normal Skin

If you have normal skin you don’t have to do as much to your skin. According to What is my skin type,” Those with a normal skin type don’t generally describe their skin as oily or dry. When oiliness and dryness are present, it’s rare and tends to be easy to get rid of or resolve. When it comes to pore size, normal skin types feature small pores that are not engorged or easily visible. Normal skin doesn’t normally have a great excess of shine, and it also doesn’t tend to be cracked or flaky. Normal skin types usually exhibit few fine lines and wrinkles, and the skin’s tone is generally even, with no marked blemishes.” So with a normal skin type, you don’t have to do as much but that doesn’t mean that you have perfect skin.

Oily Skin

Those with oily skin may find it difficult to maintain their skin. Most will not use a moisturizer in fear that their skin will have an oily appearance. According to What’s My Skin Type,”Those with oily skin may assume they don’t need moisturizer, but leaving moisturizer out of your routine can actually make the skin even oilier. Using products or skipping product altogether to dry out your face can signal the oil glands underneath the skin to start producing and pumping out more sebum, resulting in oilier skin. Instead, find a moisturizer that’s lightweight and oil-free to keep your skin soft and properly hydrated.” Taking care of your skin can be a hassle, but with knowledge and dedication it can be fixed.

Knowing your skin can benefit you when it comes to learning what bests fits for your skin. It will be difficult because everyone is different and what might work for someone might not work for you. Lay your head on my Pillow

ZZZZZZZZZZ

I know what you are thinking…what does sleep have to do with Hygiene? A lot! Getting plenty of rest is essential to having a health life. Things like washing your pillow cases, and getting plenty of sleep can have plenty of benefits for you. Let’s talk about it!

According to Sleepcore.com, “By having your cappuccino in the AM, you’ll avoid disrupting your nightly sleep cycle. You’ll also want to get your exercise in no later than mid-afternoon. If you exercise too late in the day, your body won’t be fully ready to enter sleep by bedtime.” As a college athlete I can say that this is true. Early morning workouts always seem to wake me up, but I had a tendency to do extra workouts in the evening which made it very hard for me to sleep during the night. As the fall semester rolled through I learned to relax before bed so that i could get a good night’s rest.

One thing most people forget to do is wash their pillow cases. Not washing your pillow cases could cause you to have oily skin and cause breakouts. Now I don’t know if you you guys like acne, but I for sure do not. So I every week I wash my pillow cases so that I know that I am laying my face on a clean pillow.

Who am I?

Hello ! Thanks for coming to my blog!

My name is Kylar Cooks. For my blog topic, I chose to talk about hygiene, skin care routines, etc. I chose my topic because I wanted to share some of the great products I have used in the past as well as educate others about how to get good skin, hair, and teeth. Growing up I didn’t have access to most skin care and hair care products nor did I have a steady routine. This was one of the very reasons as to why I am so insecure today. My overall goal is to provide great routines and products that would be great for people with problem skin or someone of color. I would like to give insight to the pros and cons of natural products and over the counter hygiene products. I hope to learn more about the products I use on a daily basis as well as learn the benefits of using natural products.

I was born at Fort Stewart, Georgia but raised in Texarkana, Texas. Growing up i had a plethora or things i was interested in such as Astrology, Anime, Superheroes, Music, and video games. I grew up in a single parent household which made things very difficult for me. My mom has always been a role model for me because no matter what she never gave up. I hope that one day I become very successful so that I can buy her house and get her out of Texarkana.

In my free time I like to sing, play video games, hangout with friends, go clothes shopping, and take pictures. I play football at Texas state university and I am very grateful to be apart of the program and I would not trade it for the world. I like to collect rocks because they are very interesting and are great decorations around my room. One day when I overcome my insecurities, I plan on creating a YouTube channel about everything that I find interesting.

I hope that I could help you guys with your hygiene as well as show how great of a person I am on the inside while I work on my outside. Follow me on Twitter for more Updates while I start this hygiene journey!
